Golden Djinn Rules

  1. Entries must be submitted in person by the entrant before 10 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2019 at the Battlezone Hobby Game Centre, 1st Floor, Jumeirah Centre, 67 Jumeirah Street, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  2. Entrants are responsible for the transportation of entries to and from the competition. No storage space for transportation materials will be provided. Entrants must pick up entries on Friday, 10 January 2020, before 10 PM, except for the competition winner and two runner ups.
  3. Each entrant can submit only one (1) entry.
  4. Fully commissioned entries are not allowed, this competition has been created to celebrate hobby artists!
  5. While joint effort entries are allowed, only one contributing artist may be credited as the entrant.
  6. Entries must not have been announced as winners in another competition or exhibition; showcased or published in any professional or commercial media (either print or online), including but not limited to hobby magazines, manufacturer catalogs, advertisements, box art, or gaming materials such as character cards and rule books.
  7. Entrants agree to provide their entry to Battlezone and Clan Mac Datho™ for the duration of the competition for the purpose of judging, display, photography, videotaping, or recording by Battlezone and/or Clan Mac Datho™, and such recordings shall be the property of Battlezone and/or Clan Mac Datho™ without further reference or payment to the entrant.
  8. Once entries are booked in, they may not be removed from the display cabinets during the competition for use in games.
  9. Once entries are booked in, Battlezone and Clan Mac Datho™ will undertake to look after them as carefully as possible. However, entrants release, relieve, indemnify and forever discharge Battlezone and Clan Mac Datho™, their employees, agents, officers, trustees and representatives (in their official and individual capacities) from any and all liability whatsoever for loss of or damage to entries.
  10. In the event of any dispute, the sum total liability of Battlezone and Clan Mac Datho™ to any entrant shall be whatever the entrant paid to enter the Golden Djinn 2019 competition, i.e. AED 0.
  11. During the competition, entrants must remain available to answer any queries from the Head Judge, and for the prize awards ceremony, on Friday 10 January 2020, at the Battlezone Hobby Game Centre, 1st Floor, Jumeirah Centre, 67 Jumeirah Street, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  12. Prizes will be awarded to the second runner up (AED 100 in Battlezone store credit and the "Golden Djinn 2019" Bronze Certificate), the first runner up (AED 200 in Battlezone store credit and the "Golden Djinn 2019" Silver Certificate), and to the winner (AED 400 in Battlezone store credit, the "Golden Djinn 2019" Gold Certificate and the "Golden Djinn" statue).
  13. Unit entries not mounted on a single display base must be presented on a movement tray to facilitate handling and to ensure the entry is arranged as intended. Loose models shall be secured with putty, magnets, or other means of attachment. Please notify staff of any models which require special handling during registration. Movement trays are not considered part of the entry, don't require paint or scenery, and will not add or detract from the score.
  14. Display plinths are not considered part of the entry, don't require paint or scenery, and will not add or detract from the score. All modeled and painted work atop a plinth or standard gaming base will be judged as part of the entry (e.g. for a model standing on a ruin, mounted on a square plinth, the model and the ruin will be judged, but not the plinth).
  15. The Head Judge will have final say on which entries are suitable for submission. Battlezone and Clan Mac Datho™ reserve the right to refuse any entry upon any grounds, at the Head Judge discretion.
  16. A panel of Judges will be selected by the Head Judge on behalf of Battlezone and Clan Mac Datho™.
  17. Entrants will not be identified to Judges, and only entries will be identified by a unique entry number.
  18. Judges will examine entries individually using the provided scoring sheet. A panel discussion, led by the Head Judge will allow for adjustment. Each Judge will then re-examine each entry individually and assign it their final score.
  19. In the event of a tie for first, second and third place, and if the Judges cannot reach a consensus on a majority vote, the Head Judge has the power to break the tie.
